GHRN.  It's YOUR career…YOUR profession...YOUR development!

In 1987, the first meetings of the GHRN were small gatherings of dedicated professionals who were intent on creating an environment in which corporate recruiters could come together, share ideas, discuss issues unique to our profession and provide each other with leads.  We were then called the Houston chapter of the South-West High-Tech Cooperative.  

Richard Bell, then a Director of Recruiting for Arthur Young in Dallas, initiated the idea for our 

group.  Some of us who were present in those early days are still active in the GHRN.

The organization continued, primarily under the direction of Mike Posey (currently of Resource Strategies, Inc.), through the mid-90's. Mike's leadership, tenacity, and the help of a few good friends are largely why we are in existence today. As an organization, we owe a great debt of gratitude to their dedication.

For 2004, the meetings of the GHRN are held quarterly. These meetings are held to provide networking opportunities for our members and guests as well as to provide an educational forum.

Recognizing that there is an industry-wide lack of professional development opportunities available to those in our chosen field, we strive to bring our members and guests a variety of developmental opportunities, not only through our formal quarterly meetings, but also through special events throughout the year.

Our mission is two fold.

First, provide the professional Recruiters of Houston with a community of like-minded peers for professional networking.

Second, provide our Members and guests with educational career development opportunities.

Both of our goals are intended to put enough information in the hands of the individual Recruiter so they can excel in their professional endeavors.

The GHRN is governed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of GHRN Members of the GHRN who are elected to Office by Membership vote. Each Board Chairperson serves a two-year term. The terms of service for the Board are staggered, with three or four of the seven Board seats being up for election in January of each year.
